SPITBANK FORT FACILITIES

Ship shape, present and correct

Ours may be the smallest of the three Solent Forts, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in personality and specification. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the huge array of facilities to help keep you entertained during your stay with us. Choose to while away the hours with a good book in the library, or take advantage of the games room for a friendly poker match.

Whether you’re enjoying a private celebration, or sharing the moment with a gang of great friends, you’ll find there’s never a dull moment aboard Spitbank Fort. The distinctly British interiors give our fort the feeling of a distinguished private members club and we want you to feel like you’re valued members of our establishment. Nothing is too much trouble for our dedicated crew, and your enjoyment is at the core of what we do.

  • Stunning view from the bar area across the Solent showcasing the beautiful dishes on offer at Solent Forts

    The Crow’s Nest

A stunning contemporary room located high up in the fort, offering sensational sea views across the Solent. This space is flooded with natural light thanks to the floor to ceiling windows providing an excellent space for parties, events and even wedding ceremonies. With a maximum capacity of 60, there’s plenty of space for the A list in your life. This room can also be converted into a bedroom for our EU guests providing sensational views morning and night!

  • Solent Fort Sunday Lunch Experience

    Officer’s Mess

As the name suggests, this is our principal dining space on Spitbank. Vaulted ceilings and original ironwork help create an amazing ambience in this historic space. With views back to Portsmouth Harbour and the Spinnaker Tower, it’s a wonderful setting for a celebratory feast. Holding a maximum of 60 people, this room is also licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies.

  • Gorgeously lit seating area showcasing the curved brick walls/ceiling

    Victory Bar

As bars go, we have to admit this one is pretty darn fine! With a Laurent Perrier Champagne bar, there’s no need to be without a glass of fizz to pass the time. Sink back into a comfy club chair or plush sofa and try your hand at some of our traditional bar games. With amazing acoustics, the bar is also a fabulous spot for a live band to entertain you and your guests in complete comfort.

  • Stunning curved bar area with coloured lights in green and purple with cork stools

    Wine Cave

Our wine cave has a really unique atmosphere thanks to the unusual shape of the room and the cleverly chosen mood lighting. It’s perfect for small groups to enjoy a private dining experience - perhaps paired with a wine tasting session with a qualified sommelier? It’s also a lovely spot to begin your evening with cocktails and digestifs, or how about a late evening visit for a cheeky nightcap? If you’re feeling a little peckish tuck into a platter of cheese to satisfy your appetite… and what a wonderful excuse for a glass of port.

  • Black iron railings surrounding the internal stairs and rooftop area with gorgeous blue sky

    The Courtyard

Stepping into the courtyard you are soon reminded of just how unique this building is. Wonderful Victorian iron work, red brick walls and arched doors are a charming reminder of the skill of those who created Spitbank Fort over 150 years ago. Today it offers a dramatic and exciting space to host a drinks reception where up to 60 guests can mingle and enjoy their rum rations. There are unusual details dotted around the area providing plenty of photo opportunities, including some genuine period artefacts and a smattering of Great British quirkiness. With a music system available, you’re free to create your perfect party atmosphere.

  • Group of guests enjoying the fire pit with the sun setting in the background on the roof of Solent Forts

Roof Terrace - Hot Pool, Sauna, Fire Pit, Sun Deck

It’s hard to imagine a more idyllic setting. The only trouble you’ll have, is deciding quite what to do first. Do you take a dip in the hot pool, raising a glass of fizz to any passing yachts? Or perhaps a relaxing stint in the sauna is more your thing? For groups and couples alike, there’s no finer way to end an evening on Spitbank than gazing out at the stars, toasting marshmallows over the firepit, snuggled in cosy blankets.

When the sun is out, our terrace sun loungers are all ready in prime position or perhaps you’d prefer to take in the view of the Isle of Wight from the top of our lighthouse.
